You may define up to ten Preset destinations per Presets file (see “About Presets Files,” below). Each Preset has a command-key equivalent attached to it (⌘-1 through
⌘–0). Typing the command-key equivalent for any of the Presets from the file dialogs (or selecting the name of the Preset from the Presets menu) will immediately move you to the folder that contains the Preset folder, with the Preset folder selected.
NOTE: The one exception to this is the Trash Preset, at the bottom of the Preset menu;
  for an explanation of this Preset, read on.
  You may also specify any one of the ten Presets (or
the Trash) as your Default Preset. If you choose one
of the Presets as the Default, the name of that folder
will be marked with a “greater than” sign (‘>’ — see
the illustration) in the Presets menu so you can pull
down the Presets menu and quickly determine which
Preset is the current Default.
The Default Preset is special in two ways:
(1.) If you turn on the “Auto-Transfer” option (if
this option is “on,” a checkmark will appear next to
the “Auto Transfer” menu item in the Settings menu),
all source items, as soon as they are specified (either
by selecting them from a file dialog or dropping them
on Acme Movers), will be automatically transferred
to the Default Preset using the mode specified in the
General Settings dialog (see Chapter 7, “General
Control Settings”).
If you later turn off the Auto-Transfer option, you
will again be required to specify a destination folder
(the items will not be automatically transferred).
(2.) All file dialogs have a “Default” button that is active if you have designated one of the Presets as your Default. Clicking this button in the file dialogs (or typing Command-U) will immediately select your Default Preset for the purpose of the dialog (whether as source or destination — in the illustration below, clicking the Default button would select the Default Preset as the source item to be transferred).
 
As mentioned above, if you select the Trash as your Default Preset, Acme Movers behaves slightly differently than it does with other Defaults. As above, if the Trash is the Default and Auto-Transfer is turned on, all source items will automatically be moved to the Trash as soon as they are specified.
  However, if the Trash is your Default Preset, the
Default button is not active in the file dialogs. Also,
selecting the Trash item from the Preset menu (or
typing ‚åò-T) is the exact equivalent of clicking the
Trash button in the Expert dialogs (see Chapter 7,
“General Control Settings”). This menu item is active
or inactive under exactly the same circumstances as
the Trash button in the file dialogs (for example, the
Trash menu item will never be active if you are using
Standard file dialogs).
Using the Trash as a Default Preset was handled in
this way because the Trash can never be a source
item for Acme Movers (you cannot copy or move the
Trash anywhere). It was included in the Presets menu
mainly so that you could quickly verify whether the
Trash is your Default Preset (it will be marked by a
“greater than” sign if it is).
ABOUT PRESETS FILES:
Acme Movers loads the same group of Presets, which were automatically created and saved in the “Acme Movers Items” folder (in the “Preferences” folder of your System folder), every time it opens. (There is one exception to this: see the Power User’s Tip, below.) However, you may create additional groups of Presets and save them in files which may later be opened. Opening a saved Presets file causes Acme Movers to use the Presets saved in the file instead of the Presets it opened with.
  To create a Presets file, just choose the “Save
Presets As…” menu item from the File menu (or
type ‚åò-S). A file dialog will appear asking you to
name the new Presets file and choose a location for
it. You may then edit the Presets by selecting the
“Edit Presets…” menu item from the Presets menu
(or typing ‚åò-D). Clicking the OK button in the
Presets dialog automatically saves any changes you
make to the new Presets file. For information on
editing Preset Destinations, see the next section, “Setting Preset Destinations.”
To load the Presets from a saved Presets file, choose the “Open Presets File…” menu item from the File menu (or type ⌘-O). A file dialog will appear asking you to locate the Presets file you wish to open. When you select a file and click the “Open” button, the Presets in the file are automatically loaded into Acme Movers, ready for use.
HINT: As a shortcut, you may double-click any Presets file or drop it on Acme Movers
  (even if Acme Movers is already running) to load the Presets contained in that file
into Acme Movers.
POWER USER’S TIP: If you create a Presets file named “Acme Local Presets” in the
  same folder as any copy of Acme Movers, that copy of Acme Movers will load the
Presets in that file every time it launches. This allows you to use multiple copies of
Acme Movers, each with its own unique set of Presets.
For information on using separate control settings with multiple copies of Acme Movers, see the “Save Settings” section of Chapter 7, “General Control Settings.”
NOTE: The standard License Agreement allows you to have multiple copies of Acme
  Movers on your computer as long as you never have more than one copy in use at
any given time. If you want to use multiple copies of Acme Movers concurrently,
you must license the number of copies you wish to use concurrently.
SETTING PRESET DESTINATIONS:
NOTE: Balloon help is available for all items in the Preset Destinations dialog. To turn on
  balloon help, choose the Show Balloons item from the Help menu.
The Preset Destinations dialog (which is opened by choosing the “Edit Presets…” item from the Presets menu or typing ⌘-D) allows you to define up to ten Preset destinations which are only a command-key equivalent away when any of Acme Movers’ file dialogs are displayed — no matter how deeply nested within the hierarchy those folders may be. The Preset Destinations dialog also allows you to specify which (if any) of the Preset destinations will be used as your Default Preset. For an explanation of Preset Destinations and the Default Preset, see the section “About Preset Destinations and the Default Preset” above.
 
Preset x/Trash/No Default: This set of twelve radio buttons determines which of your Preset destinations (if any) will be considered your Default Preset. For
an explanation of the special nature of the Default Preset and the uniqueness of choosing the Trash as your Default Preset, see the section “About Preset Destinations and the Default Preset” above.
Selecting the “No Default” radio buttons specifies that none of your Presets will be considered to the be the Default.
Select… Button: These ten buttons (one each next to each Preset definition area) allow you to choose a folder from a file dialog to be used as the location for the corresponding Preset. If the current session is “locked” (password protected — see Chapter 7, “General Control Settings” and Chapter 8, “Setting Password Preferences”) the Select… buttons will be inactive.
Clear: These ten buttons (one each next to each Preset definition area) clear the corresponding Preset so that no folder is defined for that Preset.
There is never a situation in which you are required to clear a Preset; to change a Preset to a different folder from the one that is currently defined for it, simply click the Select… button for that Preset.
These buttons were provided more for “neat freaks” (which we tend to be around here — at least from time to time) than for any other reason: if for some reason you delete the folder corresponding to a Preset and don’t have any other folder you would like to assign to that Preset, you may clear the Preset instead of assigning a new one.
NOTE: Having a Preset assigned to a non-existent folder causes no problem beyond an
  occasional dialog warning you that one or more of the Presets could not be found.
Also note that any Presets which cannot be found — either because their volume
is off-line or the folder has been deleted — will be displayed in the Preset Destination dialog using underline italics type style.
Auto-Transfer: This checkbox serves exactly the same purpose as the “Auto-Transfer” checkbox in the General Settings dialog (see Chapter 7, “General
Control Settings” for an explanation of the Auto-Transfer function) and the “Auto-Transfer” menu item in the Settings menu (see Chapter 10, “Reference”). You may access this function from wherever it is most convenient for you.
Confirm Clear: If this checkbox is marked, Acme Movers will ask you for confirmation before clearing any Presets (see the “Clear” button, above). If the checkbox is unmarked, Presets will be cleared when the Clear button is clicked without first asking for confirmation.
Display: Acme Movers gives you three choices for the way the Presets will be displayed in the Preset Destinations dialog. Each radio button in this group of buttons corresponds to one of these three display options. Note that your choice also affects the way the Presets are displayed in the Presets menu (see below).
 Full Path: Using this option, every folder in
the hierarchy will be displayed, from the
volume name down to the destination folder for
the Preset (e.g., “My Hard Drive:My Folder:My
Other Folder:My Deeper Yet Folder”).
 Folder Name Only: Using this option, only
the name of the final destination folder for the
Preset will be displayed (e.g., “My Deeper Yet
Folder”). Note that if the Preset points to a
volume itself this option is the same as “Full
Path,” above.
 Volume and Folder Name: Using this
option, the name of the volume will be
displayed, as will the name of the final
destination folder for the Preset; however, any
number of folders in the hierarchy in between
will be replaced by a single ellipsis (e.g., “My Hard Drive:…:My Deeper Yet Folder”). Note that if the Preset points to a volume itself or to a folder at the root level of a volume this option is identical to “Full Path,” above.
 NOTE: The mode you have set
  for displaying paths in
the Preset Destinations
dialog also determines
how the Presets are listed in the
Presets menu. If your display
option is either “Full Path” or
“Volume and Folder Name,” the
Presets menu will display
Presets using the “Volume and
Folder Name” option.
  If your display option is “Folder Name Only” only
the name of the final destination folder will be
displayed in the Presets menu (volume name and
ellipses will be omitted).
OK: Clicking this button (or pressing the Return or Enter key) will dismiss the Preset Destinations dialog.
ABOUT THE PRESETS MENU:
The way items are listed in the Presets menu is determined by the mode you have set for displaying path names in the Preset Destination dialog (see the explanation above).
If you have set a Default Preset, the corresponding item in the Presets menu will have a “greater than” sign (>) next to it (see the illustrations above).
The items in the Presets menu with Command-Key equivalents 1 through 0 are only active when Acme Movers is displaying a file dialog. Selecting one of these items or pressing the command-key equivalent will immediately move you to the folder that contains the corresponding Preset, with the Preset folder selected.
The Trash menu item in the Presets menu (⌘-T) is only active if there is a Trash button in the file dialog (see Standard and Expert file dialogs in Chapter 7, “General Control Settings”) and the Trash button is active.
Selecting the Trash menu item is functionally equivalent to clicking the Trash button in the file dialog. The Trash menu item was included in the Presets menu mainly to allow you to quickly verify whether the Trash is your Default Preset (it will have a ‘>’ next to it if it is).
